ABOUT THE ARTIST

Julie Agnes is a Scandinavian interdisciplinary artist living in the mountains of Thailand, currently working primarily with body and clay, engaging with dance improvisation
, sculpture, and writing. Rooted in contemplative tradition, somatic practice, poetry, and deep ecology, her work centers around relationship with nature, environment, and everyday objects.

As a maker, Julie favors slow, intimate processes, often working with wild-gathered materials, resembling nature in texture and form. As an eco-somatic artist, her practice is improvisational, holding at heart the silent conversation between body and earth.

Julie is interested in art as a way of restoring local and ecological identity and hopes, through her work, to reflect and encourage relationship with the more-than-human world, evoking a felt sense of interdependence and presence of hidden forces in the everyday.

She writes Substack A Life with Our Hands.

ABOUT EARTHEN STUDIO

Earthen Studio is the vessel for Julie’s work, and space for ongoing research into the relationship between body and earth, and the intersection of contemplative practices and creative work. The process behind Earthen Studio develops with Julie, honoring cycles and seasons.

Beyond her own artistic work, Julie is behind FELT space— for somatic practice, research and art-making— where she engages with space-making, and facilitates somatic practices.
